Foremost sports management company, Donbalon Sports Commerz, has concluded arrangement to organise an international youth football tournament named LEG Lagos Challenge.
That maiden edition of the tournament, which is slated to kick off April 2nd to 8th, will hold at the mainbow of the Teslim Balogun stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
Organized in collaboration with the Lagos State Football Association and Lagos State Sports Commission, it is a 16-team tournament and strictly for amateur footballers aged 18-23 years.
Speaking at a world press conference held in Lagos, the Director-General of the Leg Lagos Challenge, Honourable Abdoubaq Ladi Balogun stated that the essence of the tournament is aimed at rejigging youth football in the country.
“We plan to create a youth-centric and genuine football culture aimed at helping to revive the state of Nigerian football.”
According to him, the tournament which is also in tandem with the lofty ideas of Lagos State government to make the state the hub of sporting excellence, will equally help to discover and expose several talented young footballers to the world stage.
Technical Director of Lagos State Football Association, Adedotun Coker, who equally doubles as the technical director for the tournament assured that age cheats would not be allowed at the tournament, as the state is armed with a veritable data to curb the menace.
The tournament which enjoys the support of Nigerian leading sports kit brand Haggai, is also expected to feature youth teams from Belgium, Spain, England and France.
