Higher Education Notes: New vice provost post filled at Creighton

Creighton University has announced the appointment of its first vice provost for institutional diversity and inclusion.

Christopher M. Whitt will start work Feb. 19. He most recently has been associate professor and department chairman in the political science department at Augustana College in Illinois. He also founded and ran the college’s Center for Inclusive Leadership and Equity.

In addition, Whitt is a co-founder of Augustana’s Africana Studies Program and organized the college’s diversity dissertation fellowship program.

Creation of the position is among the initiatives the Rev. Daniel Hendrickson alluded to when his Creighton presidency began in 2015, the university said.

Whitt will report to Creighton Provost Tom Murray.
