Moroccan Police Officer Arrested for Hit-and-Run in Rabat

Rabat – A police officer was placed in custody on Friday after alleged involvement in a hit-and-run accident in Rabat, reported Maghreb Arab Press (MAP).

The officer, who was on an official mission to Rabat, was driving a service car when he hit another vehicle at a round-about. The second car, which was hit by the police officer, struck two other vehicles parked at the sidewalk, according to General Directorate from National Security (DGSN).

The police officer, who works in Errachidia’s Regional security office, left the scene of the accident before undergoing the necessary procedures.  An 11-year child, who was in the first car hit by the policeman, was slightly injured, says DGSN.

A judicial investigation was opened under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office of the Salé Court of First Instance in order to determine the circumstances of the accident.
