MELODY MUPETA, Kitwe
A WOMAN of Kitwe has narrated before the Kitwe local court how her husband of 15 years, who is a deacon at one of the local churches bought pants for the church secretary as present.
This is in a case in which Justine Mwamba, 44, sued Lucia Mwansa, 37, for divorce on grounds that she is irresponsible.
In her defence, Mwansa told the court that her husband is a womaniser, who likes spending money on women.
She said her husband was once a pastor at a local church but he left the congregation after being confronted by the members who sought to find out why he bought underwear for the church secretary.
“Despite being a deacon, my husband is a womaniser who was once caught when he bought pants for the church secretary, where he was a pastor,” Mwansa said.
She told the court that she still loves Mwamba despite his flaws and asked the court not to end their marriage.
Earlier, Mwamba told the court that problems in their marriage started in 2002 when his wife started taking his children to his mother-in-law’s place for meals.
He accused Mwansa of taking food out of their house to her mother’s place but later complained that he did not provide anything for the family.
Mwamba asked the court to grant them divorce because his wife has not been performing her duties for seven months now.
Senior magistrates Fredrick Ndhlovu and Mildred Kayola adjourned the case to give Mwansa and Mwamba more time to resolve their differences.
